Markets ended the day mixed as “Mag 7” stocks continued to attract positive inflows ahead of key earnings announcements this week. The S&P 500 (SPX) finished higher, up 0.5% on the session, the Nasdaq-100 (NDX) advanced 0.42%, and the Russell 2000 (RUT) declined 0.36%. Communication Services, Information Technology, and Utilities led gains, while Consumer Discretionary and Consumer Staples lagged.

Natural Gas Extends Rally as Arctic Blast Sweeps Across the U.S.

Natural gas futures continued to move higher as the U.S. experienced the early impacts of an Arctic blast that has affected more than 40 states and left millions without power over the weekend. The February contract, which expires this week, surged 23.5% on the session; however, it is important to note that the contract is experiencing low liquidity and abnormal price swings. The now-active front-month March natural gas contract gained 6.6% on the session.

Nvidia Invests $2B in CoreWeave to Accelerate AI Infrastructure Buildout

Nvidia (NVDA) invested $2 billion in CoreWeave (CRWV) Class A common stock at $87.20 per share, expanding its partnership to accelerate the global buildout of AI infrastructure. As part of the agreement, CoreWeave will adopt Nvidia CPU and storage platforms and deploy multiple Nvidia GPU clusters within its planned 5-GW network of AI factories expected to be completed by 2030. CoreWeave shares ended the day up 5.73% on the news.
