The U.S. and Iran agreed Sunday to pause hostilities and allow commercial vessels to transit the Strait of Hormuz freely, following a weekend of military exchanges, including Kuwait and Bahrain, that threatened to derail negotiations aimed at ending conflict. The U.S. attacked Iranian military targets over the weekend in retaliation for Iranian strikes in the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices are higher with the U.S. futures price back above $70 per barrel.

In this holiday-shortened week, investor focus will be on jobs data. Reports are due on job openings, ADP employment and June non-farm payrolls.
