U.S. Stock Futures Lower As Yields, Oil Hit Sentiment

U.S. stock futures are lower ahead of the Wall Street open as rising yields and higher oil prices hit sentiment.

The moves follow Monday’s modest losses for stocks, as oil prices climbed on uncertainty around a U.S.-Iran ceasefire that expired Monday. Rising yields are creating headwinds for stocks with the benchmark 10-Year near 4.74% and the 30-Year above 5.3%, its highest level since 2007.

On the corporate front, Home Depot (HD) shares are up over 1% after reporting earnings and revenue that beat expectations. CFO Richard McPhail said the company continues to “operate in ‘frozen housing market’ conditions, but we also know that we’re taking share and that we’re serving our customers better every day.”

Investor focus will remain on geopolitical tensions, rising oil and yields along with more earnings from the retail sector.
