The Federal Open Market Committee’s minutes are the highlight of this trading week as the final quarter of 2026 begins.

FOMC minutes come out at 2:00 PM ET on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The minutes will shed light on the Sept. 15-16 discussions preceding the Sept. 16 FOMC decision to raise the federal funds rate target range by 25 basis points. This information will be released against a backdrop of rate and inflation worries with the 10-year Treasury yield reaching 20-plus year highs above 5.3% and still-high oil prices. Any read on whether Fed leaders are leaning hawkish or dovish ahead of the Oct. 27-28 Fed meeting, and another potential rate decision, will be important for traders.

Other economic data includes S&P Global Composite PMI, ISM Services Index, Jobless Claims, and Michigan Consumer Sentiment. Earnings are light this coming week with PepsiCo (PEP), Delta Air Lines (DAL), and Constellation Brands (STZ) among the largest companies reporting. Earnings season begins in earnest the week of Oct 12 with major financial companies like JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Citigroup (C), and Goldman Sachs (GS) kicking things off.
