Gold Clears $4,100; Thin Trading Could be Pushing Prices Higher

Axel Merk thinks investors are choosing metals over bonds and discusses the demand for precious metals in the market. “Because this market is so much smaller than the bond market in particular, you don’t need that many people to come into the market to have outsized returns,” he notes, as gold climbs over the $4,100 level. He stresses that investors need to decide whether they can “afford the risk” of various downturns in different sectors.
