Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, says foreign direct investment has been transformational for Ireland's economy across technology, semiconductors, healthcare, and fintech. US multinationals like Pfizer (PFE), Microsoft (MSFT), Alphabet (GOOGL), Apple (AAPL), Meta Platforms (META), Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), and Eli Lilly (LLY) have operated there for decades, with Intel (INTC) investing a further $5 billion in July. He says Ireland's pro-enterprise policies, political stability, and two-way reciprocal relationship with the US make it a compelling gateway to Europe.
