Underhill: Tariffs Are Inflationary, Bond Vigilantes are Back

In the face of trade uncertainty and "inflationary" tariffs, Michael Underhill says investors need to have "real assets" in a portfolio. He sees institutional investors turning to gold and defensive assets. Longer-term, Michael believes there will be better earnings later this year as companies adapt to ongoing volatility. He believes Jerome Powell may indicate a rate hike on the table, not a rate cut, in weekend commentary expected on Sunday. Michael says there could be "recessionary type data" ahead in upcoming prints.
