Stock Market Today: The Fed Raises Rates, Investors Don't Take It Well

Fed Chair Jerome Powell chose to raise rates by another 50 basis points to the highest level in 15 years. The Dow Jones closed down along with the S&P 500, Russell 2000, and the Nasdaq-100. Just one sector ended in the green, healthcare, due to the success of Moderna's (MRNA) Cancer vaccine combo clinical trial with Merck. The biggest losers were financials, materials, and real estate. Delta Airlines (DAL) closed up higher after raising its guidance for 2023. Tesla's (TSLA) price target was cut by Goldman Sachs, making the stock sink to a 2-year low during the session.
