Don’t get too carried away, the economy is slowing, notes StoneX’s Vincent Deluard. He monitors the state of the treasury market, as the 10-year yield hit 5% for the first time since 2007. He doesn’t think we’ll hit 6% by the end of the year, but looking ahead 6% is not that crazy. He then looks at an arbitrage-free estimation of the term premium chart. He talks about how as the term premium is restored, asset prices are going to go down, but that doesn’t mean that growth disappears as a result, quite to the contrary, he would argue that having low rates for so long and negative term premium actually slowed growth.
